2024-25 LSS Coordinator (1.0 FTE)

Valley Christian School is a small independent school located in Mission, BC. We have approximately 160 students. We are currently accepting applications for a Learning Support Services Coordinator with one day a week as a classroom teacher. This is a full time position commencing August 22, 2024.

The Learning Support Services Coordinator (Special Education & Learning Assistance) is responsible for the development of student learning plans and individualized education plans as well as determining the appropriate supports needed to meet student learning needs. The coordinator is supervised by the principal and collaborates with teachers and educational assistants in development and implementation of educational plans.

 Preferred Qualifications:

~A Bachelor of Education degree (or equivalent)

~Hold, or be eligible for, a valid BC Teaching Certificate 

~University course work in the following areas:

~Credentials in special education

~In addition, courses in the following areas are recommended:

~Meeting the needs of students with specific exceptions (i.e., autism, developmental delays, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), etc.)

~Meeting the diverse behavioural needs in the classroom

~Computer technology for the classroom

~Non-violent de-escalation training

~Have a passion for Christian education

~Practice and demonstrate evidence of a strong commitment to the Christian Faith

~Practice strong collaboration skills and enjoy working in a team

~Have strong written and verbal communication skills

~Establish positive working relationships with school staff, community partners, families, and children

~Be able to confidently lead and support staff

~With colleagues, plan and maintain a learning environment that promotes the health, security, and well-being of children

~Demonstrate a willingness to learn

Salary Range: $47,388.76 to $79,211.32

We emphasize that each child is an important part of the body of Christ and encourage everyone to grow in their unique gifts and to use them for God’s glory.

We are looking for a teacher who is energetic and committed to Christian education to join our school family. We are now accepting applications to fill a full-time intermediate teaching position (1.0 FTE) for the 2024-2025 school year. The ideal candidate will be flexible and desire to collaborate in a team environment.

All applicants must hold a valid BC Teaching Certificate. Teaching experience with the new BC curriculum will be beneficial.
